Chikliya was an out-station of Barwani and it was made a parish in 1969 with Fr. William Wuellner as parish priest. In 1972 the Sisters of Community of lay Missionaries joined the parish community and worked there till 1985. In May 1975 the Sisters of Sant Joseph Sevika Sanstha joined the parish community.
