The mission at Nepanagar was established primarily to serve the spiritual needs of the Catholics who were employed in Nepanagar Paper Mill. The present church was built in 1957. Nepanagar became an independent parish in 1968 with a resident priest Fr. Joseph Lobuscher SVD. The CMC sisters served the parish for some years. The Sisters of Our Lady of Garden joined the parish community in 1995 and are engaged in the field of education and pastoral activities.
