Foreseeing submersion of Harsud and possible emergence of New Harsud at Chhanera due to Indira Sagar Project, Fr. Berchmans D’Penna SVD was assigned the task of establishing and coordinating the Christian community at New Harsud. The parish was erected in 1995. New parish house was built on 6th April 1997 and Fr. Berchmans D’Penna SVD was appointed the first Parish Priest.
