Until 1982 Bhagwanpura was an outstation of Sirpur Parish and it was elevated to the status of parish under Fr. John Vazhappilly in 1982. Later in 1991 this parish was entrusted to the Indian Missionaries Society (IMS). Since 1984, Sisters of the Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary (SVM) have been working in the parish. They are engaged in Medical, Educational and Evangelization activities.
